SW Lawyer With Former Ties To Dulos Case Facing Assault Charge
A South Windsor lawyer with former ties to the New Canaan Dulos disappearance case is facing a sex assault charge.
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A South Windsor lawyer who had represented the mother-in-law of the husband being questioned in the disappearance of his wife in New Canaan is facing spousal abuse charges — including sexual assault.
Kent Mawhinney, 53, is due in Manchester Superior court on Aug. 8 to answer an accusation that he violated a protective order on the fifth of July, court records show.
He is also facing charges from a January arrest that include sexual assault of a spouse, secon-degree unlawful reatraint and disorderly conduct. He has a return date of Sept. 11, court records show.

He is free on bonds totaling $105,000, judicial system records show.
On Jan. 21, South Windsor police arrested Mawhinney in the domestic assault case.

He no longer represents Fotis Dulos' mother-in-law in a civil lawsuit, records show.
Dulos, 51, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 44, have both entered non-guilty pleas to hindering prosecution and evidence tampering charges in connection with the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.
Records show that Fotis and Jennifer Dulos had been involved in a divorce, as have Mawhinny and his wife.
Mawhinny is a founding member of the Bloomfield-based law firm of Markowicz & Mawhinney, records show.
Dulos' mother-in-law, Gloria Farber, is seeking sole custody of the five Dulos children, records show. She claims Dulos has not paid more than $2 million in loans furnished for his real estate company, records show.
