Tamburro Lifts South Windsor Boys' Basketball to First State Tournament Win in 10 Years
The Bobcats will play top-seeded New London in the second round of the Class L tournament on Thursday.

Led by senior guard Joe Tamburro’s clutch 3-pointer in the final seconds, the South Windsor boys’ basketball team claimed its first state tournament win in 10 years with a thrilling 39-38 overtime victory over 16th-seeded Wethersfield in the first round of the Class L tournament Tuesday night in Wethersfield.
With the win, the 17th-seeded Bobcats (14-9) advanced to a second-round game with top-seeded New London on Thursday night.
“My teammates set me up great, I had a wide-open look,” Tamburro told Derek Turner of GameTimeCT.com. “I was pretty deep, but still the play worked out great and I was able to hit it.”
