SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — So ... what does it takes to re-open a international business in Connecticut that has already been trying to keep its work force of about 500 employed? South Windsor-based TicketNetwork Chief Executive Officer Donald Vaccaro was not shy about sharing the details Friday.

On Tuesday, Vaccaro said, TicketNetwork will begin the reopening process, and the number of employees returning to the South Windsor headquarters will continue to expand "as is prudent."

"TicketNetwork has taken the appropriate steps to control the access to the building to make sure that everyone who enters the building is safe," Vaccaro said.

The building is "ready," Vaccaro said, and here are the highlights of the changes:

  • The company will be issuing masks to all employees "to reduce the spread of any air contaminates"
  • Temperatures taken for everyone entering the building will be "a daily occurrence"
  • Work stations have been relocated in all departments to "maximize physical distance between workers"

  • "Physical barriers" of safety glass have been erected in certain areas of the building where "separation is harder to achieve"
  • The humidity in the building has been increased. Research has indicated there is a "sweet-spot" of between 40-to-55 percent humidity, which causes virus-laden droplets to fall to the floor substantially faster than drier air
  • A state of the art high-intensity UV system was recently installed in TicketNetwork’s ventilation system, to bring the benefits of UV light as the air is passing through the HVAC system through the UV lights at several duct locations, reducing the ability for several allergens, molds and viruses to survive.

  • Every rooftop in the building HVAC system has been updated to allow fresh air into the system at all times reducing the amount of recycled air flowing through staff areas.
  • Improved cleaning and disinfecting of all staff areas, using hospital grade disinfectant cleaning products, with cleaning of all high-frequency staff areas throughout the day.
  • The facilities staff has 100 gallons of hand sanitizer, and has set up numerous touch-free stations throughout the building.

Said Vaccaro, "TicketNetwork is preparing to reopen for its valued staff, most of whom have been working from home since late March, doing their part to help flatten the curve of the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of its reopening plan, company management and its facilities team reviewed a variety of best practices and developed a multi-tiered approach to bringing workers back in the safest fashion possible."
