Two Arrested At South Windsor Target

Police said officers were called to an active larceny in progress and accused two suspects of improperly scanning items at self-checkout.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Two people were arrested Thursday night after South Windsor police responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Target that investigators said involved improper use of a self-checkout register.

According to an email from police, officers were dispatched at about 7:47 p.m. to Target for an active larceny in progress. Officers located Kyle W. Bouchard, 35, of Bloomfield, and Dayna M. Lomnicky, 31, of Vernon.

Police said the pair attempted to steal multiple items by improperly scanning merchandise at the self-checkout. Investigators also said Bouchard initially refused to provide identifying information to officers at the scene.

Bouchard was charged with interfering with officers and criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree. He was taken into custody, processed, and later released on a $10,000 bond.

Lomnicky was charged with criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree and was issued a misdemeanor summons. She was released at the scene.

Both are scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 9 a.m.
