Woman Charged With DUI After Leaving Veteran's Memorial Park Pool

South Windsor Police arrested the woman on Wednesday afternoon.

South Windsor Police have charged an East Hartford woman with DUI Wednesday afternoon after she appeared to be intoxicated at the pool at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Police were advised of a motor vehicle violation in the area of Veteran’s Memorial Park on Pleasant Valley Road at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

A Parks & Recreation employee told officers that a woman appeared to be intoxicated at the pool and then left in her vehicle, according to Lt. Scott Custer.

The vehicle returned to the park as officers were checking the area.

During a field interview, the officer suspected the woman was under the influence of alcohol.

Following a series of roadside sobriety tests officers arrested the woman, Yvonne Vasquez, 50, of 1910 Main St. East Hartford. She was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was later released on a $500 non-surety bond.

Vasquez is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 31.
