Today (Wednesday) was a very significant day for the SWFD. Historic in nature. Through the efforts of Eric Hofmann as part of his Eagle Scout Project with support and assistance of the SWFD - today members of the SWFD, BSA Troop 880 and a representative of the SW Police traveled to NYC - Kennedy Airport Hanger to pick up a large piece of steel from the World Trade Center from 9-11-01.

This artifact will be a special part of the SWFD Memorial at fire HQ. Part of the Eagle Scout project is to raise funds to enhance the current Memorial to include this historic piece.

Special thanks to those that made the trip: Eric Hofmann, Deputy Chief John Hofmann, Chief Kevin Cooney, Tom Marshesseault and Michael Kowalczyk. The final leg of the trip in SW was a full escort by members of the SW South Windsor Police Department.

Outstanding job by all involved. Watch for more info on fund raising efforts and the formal dedication. God Bless the 343 FDNY, NYPD, Port Authority PD and the thousands that were murdered on 9-11.
