Car Hits Building, Driver Fights With Resident In Stafford: Report

STAFFORD, CT — The driver of a car that it a building in Stafford Saturday also scuffled with a resident who came out to see what had happened, state police said.

The incident took place at 1 a.m. on East Street, according to a state police report.

The car was being driven by a 47-year-old Somers resident, who was eventually charged with drunken driving, according to a state police report. The report also indicates that the driver "started a physical confrontation" with a resident of the building after the crash.

In addition to the DUI charge, the driver was also charged with second-degree breach of peace and a lane violation, state police said.

He is due in court on March 7, records show.
