UNION, CT — A car battled a military monument in Union last week and lost, state police said.

State police released details on the Jan. 14 crash this week.

According to a state police crash report, at 8:45 a.m., a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by a 48-year-old Maryland woman was heading on Town Hall Road near the Union Green.

The Toyota veered off the road and stuck what state police described as a small monument featuring cannonballs before coming to a final. rest in a copse of trees, according to a crash report.

The driver and a 33-year-old passenger were not hurt, but the driver was warned for traveling too fast for conditions, state police said.
