CCSU Community Mourning Loss Of Student Killed In Willington Crash
A Central Connecticut State University Student was killed in a weekend crash in Willington, state police said.

WILLINGTON, CT — The Central Connecticut State University community is mourning the loss of a business student killed in a weekend crash in Willington.
Maria Da Mata, 19, of Bethel, was killed in the crash.
"My heart goes out to Maria Rita Da Mata's family," CCSU President Zulma Toro said Monday in a message to the school community. "Maria was well on her way to completing a degree in marketing from our School of Business. The university family will keep the Da Mata family in our thoughts and prayers."

Toro said the school is offering counseling to anyone who needs it through the school's Student Wellness Services office.
The crash took place shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday on River Road near Adamec Road, according to state police. A 2007 Subaru Legacy was traveling south when it suddenly overturned.

It was being driven by a 21-year-old Bethel man, according to state police. In addition to Da Mata, a 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man — all from Bethel — were taken to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries, police said.
