STAFFORD, CT — A Halloween display on the lawn of a Stafford home was wrecked by wayward vehicle over the weekend, state police said.

The crash took place at 3:37 p.m. Saturday on Route 140, state police said.

According to a crash report, a 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup being driven by a 78-year-old Stafford man was heading west, when it suddenly veered off the road and slammed into a utility pole, which splintered.

The truck continued onto the lawn of house No. 57, tore up about 60 feet of yard and "destroyed" several Halloween lawn decorations, according to a crash report.

The driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford with minor injuries, according to a crash report.
