Criminal Charge Filed After Mayhem At Johnson Hospital

STAFFORD, CT — A 27-year-old woman from Springfield, MA has been charged in connection with a wild incident at Johnson Memorial Hospital over the winter, state police said.

She surrendered on a warrant on May 12, state police said. The warrant has charged her with assault on a health care worker/public safety officer, records show.

The incident took place on Jan. 8 and the victim is listed as a 47-year-old JMH nurse.

That day, the woman had been brought to JMH by Enfield police on an emergency committal after consuming "an unknown number of pills," according to a warrant. While a medical technician was attempting to get her vitals and get her into a hospital gown, the woman began screaming and tried to throw a chair, according to a warrant.

Another staffer wrestled her to the floor as she began punching and kicking the technician, according to a warrant. Once the woman was restrained to a bed, staffers were able to administer medication, according to a warrant.

She also tried to spit on staffers, according to a warrant.

The woman is described in a warrant as a "known drug user" who was screaming for a dose of Methadone, according to a warrant.
