STAFFORD, CT — A weekend crash in Stafford sent a driver to two hospitals, one by medical helicopter, state police said.

The crash took place at 3:19 p.m. Saturday.

According to a state police crash report, a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze was heading east on Chestnut Hill Road, just east of Magauran Drive and the 59-year-old driver lost control and suddenly veered into a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Cruze then went up an embankment and back into the road. The driver was first- taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital nearby and then airlifted to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries, according to a state police crash report.
