Driver Blames Cataracts After Northern Connecticut Car Wreck
The woman told troopers conditions — medical and the time of day — caused the crash.

UNION, CT — A 73-year-old driver told police that the cataracts did it after her car slammed into a guardrail on Interstate 84 in northern Connecticut.
According to a state police crash report, the Revere, MA, woman was driving her 2004 Toyota Camry on the eastbound section of I-84 in Union Friday. It was 6:28 a.m. and the rapidly rising sun was reflecting off wet pavement, according to a crash report.
The car veered off the road and struck about 50 feet of guardrail and the woman later told troopers that she couldn't see because of her cataracts, according to a crash report.

She wasn't hurt, but was cited for failure to maintain the proper lane, state police said.
