Driver 'Not Paying Attention' During Willington Rest Area Crash: Cops

A strange crash took place at the Interstate 84 rest area in Willington, a report indicates.

WILLINGTON, CT — A driver spaced out and caused a strange crash at a highway rest area in Willington, state Police said.

The crash took place at 4:46 p.m. on Jan. 25, state police said.

According t0 a crash report, a 2008 Honda Odyssey driven by a 46-year-old Columbia man was headed east in the Willington rest area off Exit 69 on Interstate 84.

The driver was "not paying attention" in the truck portion of the rest area and veered off the pavement, according to a crash report. It then slammed into the facing of a guardrail, caromed though an opening and just missed two dumpsters near the end of the parking area, according to a crash report.

The driver refused medical treatment at the scene, state police said.
