Fake Business Checks In Stafford Lead To Felony Charges: Warrant

A Hartford man is facing a pair of felony charges in connection with fake business checks presented at a bank in Stafford, state police said

STAFFORD, CT — A Hartford man is facing a pair of felony charges in connection with fake business checks presented at a bank in Stafford, state police said.

Harry Scott, 40, of Hartford, was charged on Jan. 13 with second-degree forgery and third-degree larceny, according to a warrant.

The case, state police said, dates back to Nov. 18 and involves two visits to the Stafford Savings Bank.

The first visit involved a check seemingly from a Bloomfield bassd engine overhaul and repair company. It was for $979.50 and was "signed" by a company official.

A similar second visit that day by Scott involved a check for $1,079, according to a warrant.
Scott presented valid identification at both visits and his image was captured on surveillance cameras, according to a warrant.

The signatures were determined to be forged and the checks were also forged , according to a warrant.
