STAFFORD, CT — A small pickup truck had a close encounter with a boulder Monday night in Stafford, state police said.

The crash took place at 7:45 p.m., according to a state police crash report.

According to the report, a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup being driven by a 31-year-old Stafford man was traveling east on Orcuttville Road, about a tenth-of-a-mile west of East Street. The driver lost control of the Ranger and it ran off the roadway to the right and eventually collided with a boulder, according to a crash report.

The Ranger then rolled over and wound up back on the road with "disabling damage," state police said.

Both the driver and a passenger, identified as a 56-year-old woman from Stafford, were transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation, according to a crash report.
