10 Businesses Sold Alcohol To Minor In Compliance Checks: Stamford PD

STAMFORD, CT — Ten locations around Stamford were recently cited for selling alcohol to a minor during unannounced compliance checks, according to police.

Police worked in conjunction with the CT Liquor Control Division and a minor on Aug. 28 to check 25 locations in the city, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

Some of the locations were chosen at random, and others were selected based on community feedback, Conklin said.

"We did not make arrests. What we're going to do is sanction them through their licensing and this way it goes directly to the liquor commission," Conklin said. The state commission will then determine any fines or license suspensions.

Authorities will follow up and conduct more checks as time and resources allow, Conklin noted.

"Forty percent making sales to a minor on spot checks like this is too high," Conklin said.
