14-Year-Old Boy With Loaded Gun Arrested: Stamford Police
"Certainly, this was a very potentially dangerous situation," Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin said.

STAMFORD, CT — A 14-year-old boy who police say was in possession of a loaded gun with a high-capacity magazine was arrested on Wednesday after a multi-week investigation, according to the Stamford Police Department.
The teen, who was not identified because of his age, is a student at a Stamford high school and lives on the city's West Side, Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin said.
The SPD's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad recently received information that a resident was in possession of an illegal gun and often carried it with him or stored it at his home, Conklin said, noting that investigators were only given the nickname of the party.

Police used "various investigative techniques" over several weeks to identify the party, and on May 28 at approximately 9:40 a.m., investigators searched the home of the arrestee and located a tan/black Taurus GX4 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a high-capacity magazine, Conklin said. The handgun had one round in the chamber and four additional rounds in the magazine.
The boy was arrested and charged with illegal transfer of a firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine, Conklin said. The boy was processed at the SPD's Youth Bureau, remanded to custody by Stamford Superior Court Judge Bruce P. Hudock, and taken to Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center.

Conklin said the boy's parents are cooperating with an investigation.
"We really have to give credit to Narcotics and Organized Crime who, after obtaining this information, worked on it for several weeks before they had enough information to move on it," Conklin added. "Certainly, this was a very potentially dangerous situation."
