2 Westhill HS Seniors Among 2018 Dell Scholars

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation gives scholarships nationally to students who overcome obstacles.

From SPS: Stamford Public School (SPS) announced that The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation recently named Westhill High School Seniors Ivette Naranjo and Escarlin Perez among the members of the 15th class of Dell Scholars. According to the organization, each of the 500 Scholars named receives a $20,000 scholarship and represents students from across the nation who have demonstrated the drive to succeed despite personal obstacles.

A report published in 2016 claims that Dell Scholars are 25 percent more likely to earn their bachelor’s degrees four to six years after high school graduation as compared to students with the same socio-economic backgrounds. To date, Dell Scholars program has supported a total of 1,922 Dell Scholars to college graduation.

“We are serving our 15th class of scholars, and we continue to learn and grow with our students,” said Todd Penner, portfolio director of Dell Scholars. “It is part of the commitment we make to our Scholars that we will continually iterate and innovate based on their needs.”
