3 Drivers Cited For Illegally Passing School Buses: Stamford PD
Stamford police officers will be out in force during Labor Day Weekend, and they remind motorists to drive carefully during school hours.

STAMFORD, CT — Three motorists were issued infractions in Stamford Thursday for illegally passing school buses on the first full day of school, according to Stamford police.
"Unfortunately 3 operators were observed passing stopped school buses that had their stops signs out and their red flashing lights on," wrote Stamford police on Facebook. "Each of these operators was issued an infractions ticket which carries a $465 fine."

Additionally, with Labor Day Weekend upon us, the department already has officers out in force, including a sobriety checkpoint Thursday night on East Main Street and Lockwood Avenue.
Within an hour officers had to break down the checkpoint as they had so many tickets/arrest paperwork to complete:
• 12 motor vehicle infractions for various motor vehicle violations
• 2 misdemeanor summons for Operating Under Suspension
• 1 Infractions ticket for Possession of Marijuana
• Custodial arrest of Otis Underwood, age 65, who was found to be in possession of approximately 8 grams of marijuana and 5 folds of powder cocaine. He was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Poss. Of Narcotics With Intent to Sell and Possession of marijuana. He was released after posting a $5,000 appearance bond.
• Custodial arrest of Jose Buritica, age 59 for Operating Under the Influence. He was released another person posted his $500 appearance bond.
