4-Year-Old, Infant Hurt In Major Crash On I-95 In Stamford: Police

Several adults also had suspected injuries after the four-vehicle crash, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A 4-year-old and an infant were injured in a four-vehicle crash Saturday in Stamford, according to police.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 95 near Exit 9, police said.

A BMW tried to change lanes at a high rate of speed and hit a Toyota and a Mazda, according to police, who said the BMW rolled over, the Mazda struck a median, and the Toyota spun, crossed into the shoulder and rolled over as well. A Volvo hit the Toyota during the rollover, police said.

The BMW’s driver, a 19-year-old man from Stamford, suffered a suspected minor injury and his passenger, a 20-year-old Stamford man, had a possible injury, according to police. The Mazda’s driver, a 53-year-old man from Bridgeport, had a suspected minor injury and was taken to Stamford Hospital, police said.

Also brought to Stamford Hospital were the three occupants of the Toyota, all from Stamford, according to police. They included a 4-year-old girl, who was seriously injured and eventually taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, as well as a three-month-old infant and a 29-year-old woman, both with suspected minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the Volvo, a 51-year-old man from Yonkers, New York, also suffered a suspected minor injury and was brought to Stamford Hospital, police said.

The crash resulted in damage to a light pole, traffic sign, and about 100 feet of guardrail and posts, according to police.
