5 Stamford Students Named 2018 Merit Semifinalists

The seniors are in the running for prestigious national scholarships.

STAMFORD, CT — Some five Stamford students are among 16,000 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. The scholarship organization announced the names this week in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The students named represent fewer than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
