STAMFORD, CT — Police said a 93-year-old Stamford woman's death has been ruled a homicide, and they are urging anyone with information is asked to contact the department. The incident occurred Wednesday at a Cove Road residence, according to police.

Officers responded to the home after receiving reports that an elderly woman there may have fallen down the stairs and was unresponsive. The woman was found dead at the bottom of a staircase leading into the basement of the home, police said.

"With the assistance of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it was determined that the injuries the victim sustained are not consistent with a fall down the stairs," police said in a statement. "This case is being investigated as a homicide."
