93 Year-Old Woman's Death Ruled A Homicide: Stamford Police
Police said the death of a 93-year-old woman is being investigated as a homicide.

STAMFORD, CT — Police said a 93-year-old Stamford woman's death has been ruled a homicide, and they are urging anyone with information is asked to contact the department. The incident occurred Wednesday at a Cove Road residence, according to police.
Officers responded to the home after receiving reports that an elderly woman there may have fallen down the stairs and was unresponsive. The woman was found dead at the bottom of a staircase leading into the basement of the home, police said.
"With the assistance of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it was determined that the injuries the victim sustained are not consistent with a fall down the stairs," police said in a statement. "This case is being investigated as a homicide."

"Residents of the area will notice an increased uniform police presence in the neighborhood as we investigate this case," police said in a statement.
I just spoke with Isabella Mehner’s son. He was here Wednesday when family discovered her. They’d rushed over after Mehner didn’t answer their usual evening call. He tells us his mother lived alone & was very active. Believes she’d only let someone in if she knew them. @News12CT

This is the home of Isabella Mehner, 93, who was found dead at the bottom of her basement stairs. Police thought she died from a fall but an autopsy found her injuries weren’t consistent. Now it’s been classified as a homicide. Police call it “a troubling case.” @News12CT pic.twitter.com/xr17rlgV70
