Academy of Information Technology and Engineering Students Win International Competition

The Stamford students developed an app for teens to combat bullying, depression and suicide.

A team of Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE) students has won the NFTE World Series of Innovation contest.

AITE Team Cassidy received the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Adjudicator’s Choice in the “International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies,” category. Under the leadership of AITE Business and Technology Teacher Brenda Zanga, “Team Cassidy,” comprised of AITE students Cassidy Colosi, Jenny Millien and Alexandra Walker, submitted the winning concept for an app aimed at helping teens fight depression, suicide, and bullying, by providing them access to live video, text, and audio chats.

The competition invited teams of students worldwide to devise innovative products and services that address everyday opportunities in seven categories. With nearly 800 international entries, two team winners were chosen in each category.
