The peninsula's redevelopment, costing about $3.5 billion, significantly shifted income levels and racial demographics while still increasing the number of Black and Hispanic residents alongside overall growth.
3. New waterfront restaurant will replace the former Crab Shell in Stamford (ctpost.com) — A new waterfront restaurant, Ocean 46, is set to take over the former Crab Shell space on Southfield Avenue, bringing seafood, steaks, and Italian-inspired dishes to Stamford's Harbor Point. With a 15-year lease and indoor-outdoor bars overlooking the harbor, it aims to become a neighborhood gathering spot, though an exact opening date hasn't been announced yet.
4. The fast-growing fintech aims to launch full-service US banking by 2027, offering checking, credit products, and multicurrency services from its new local hub.
5. Connecticut just approved $1.9 billion in bonding. Here's what that covers (ctpost.com) — Stamford is set to receive $2 million in newly approved state bonding to rehabilitate the Lathon Wider Community Center, part of a massive $1.9 billion package for schools, transportation, housing, and local projects. The funding also boosts statewide road repairs, housing programs, and park improvements, meaning Stamford residents may see broader infrastructure and affordability benefits over the coming years.
