
Erin
Manning of Stamford, a senior at Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls’
independent school in Greenwich, won a Silver Key Award in the film and
animation category of the 24th Annual Connecticut Regional Scholastic Arts
Awards for her documentary, “Unexpected Gifts.”
Her documentary is about the families of children who have Down Syndrome
for which she interviewed Stamford families.
Her award-winning film will premiere at the Fourth Annual Film Festival
sponsored by Convent of the Sacred Heart on Thursday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The festival is free and open to the
public.
A new generation of filmmakers with refreshing and
intriguing ideas will be featured at the Film Festival which will be held at the
school’s Lennie and John de Csepel Theater, 1177 King St., Greenwich.
All are invited to view the innovative
new documentaries, creative videos and public service announcements produced by
56 Upper School students in Sacred Heart’s broadcast program. Doors open at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be
available. The show will start at 6:30
p.m. Awards will be presented later that
evening with judges by media professionals. The audience will also have an opportunity
to vote their favorites with text-voting.
