Arrest Made In Ludlow Street Shooting: Stamford Police
A 38-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested in connection to the May 8 shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, Stamford Police said.
STAMFORD, CT— Stamford Police announced on Tuesday that they have arrested Derrick Mitchell, 38, from Bridgeport, in connection to a shooting that occurred on Ludlow Street in the South End section of Stamford earlier this month.
The incident occurred on May 8 shortly before 10:30 p.m. Authorities responded to 59-2 Ludlow St. on reports of shots fired, and found a 23-year-old Stamford woman with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm.
Police found out that another man - later identified as Mitchell - also sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, but he drove himself to the hospital in his car. Officers later found a stolen glock handgun in that vehicle.

Mitchell subsequently underwent numerous surgeries and stayed in the hospital to recover until his release on Tuesday.
Capt. Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department said there was an exchange of gunfire with a third party or parties, and the investigation remains ongoing. Several casings were discovered at the scene in addition to casings from the recovered weapon.

Mitchell was taken into custody after he was released from the hospital on Tuesday around noon. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and two counts of being in possession of large capacity magazines. Mitchell was transported to Stamford Police Headquarters where he was processed, and then he was sent over to Stamford Superior Court for arraignment.
Mitchell's bond was kept at $500,000.
