Just in time for Mother’s Day , Saturday May 9th Plant Native:Eat Fresh Plant Sale. Learn why it’s important to plant native plants from 9:30 - 2:30. Native plants, organic vegetables and herb baskets will be available as UConn Master Gardeners guide you to the right plant for that special place in your garden.
Learn about tick diseases, Thursday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. Enjoying the hiking trails at the Arboretum or gardening in your own backyard is a great reward after the dreary days of this past cold winter. When outdoors, remembering that the critters we share nature with may support harmful ticks is very important. Dr. Neeta Connally, Assistant Professor of Medical Entomology at Western Connecticut State University will offer insights and strategies which will help you reduce your chances of getting Lyme or other tick borne diseases. Flowering Plants, Butterflies & Honeybees (4-day session)
Our perennial garden, honeybee hives, and butterfly garden will be in full swing for this week. Campers will get up close and personal with exciting pollinators and the plants they interact with. We’ll use microscopes and magnifying glasses to take a closer look at these amazing insects and plants.
