Boat Fire Extinguished In Yacht Club Parking Lot: Stamford FD
Stamford fire officials said the approximately 24-foot boat was "heavily damaged" in the fire.
STAMFORD, CT — A fire broke out on a boat in a parking lot in Stamford on Saturday, according to the Stamford Fire Department.
The boat, a 1991 Grady White, was heavily damaged, but there were no injuries to civilians or fire personnel, and the city's waterways were unaffected, fire officials said in a news release.
At 6:17 p.m. on June 8, the Stamford 911 dispatch center received multiple calls reporting a boat on fire in the parking lot at the Ponus Yacht Club on Bateman Way.

Fire units from the South End fire station found an approximately 24-foot boat on a trailer "well involved in fire."
The fire was exposing an adjacent boat, winterized with shrink wrap, parked in close proximity, fire officials said.

Two hose lines were stretched, one with fire suppressing foam, which quickly brought the fire under control, according to fire officials.
A first alarm assignment of 26 fire personnel responded. The Stamford fire boat was dispatched, but canceled once the fire was determined to be on land.
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified as well as the Stamford Harbor Master.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.
