ID Released Of Woman Found Floating In River In Stamford: Update

The discovery was made Sunday afternoon, according to Stamford police.

STAMFORD, CT — A 67-year-old Chinese immigrant has been identified as the deceased woman found floating in the Mill River in Stamford on Sunday afternoon.

The woman was Eru Zhang, writes the Stamford Advocate. She moved to the United States about a year and a half ago and lived at a home on Vernon Place in Stamford.

Police found a pair of sandals, believed to be Zhang's, on the riverbank near Vernon Place. The circumstances of discovery, and the cause of death, are being investigated, but the preliminary investigation did not show signs of foul play.

Original story: Stamford police detectives are investigating the discovery of the body of a deceased woman, who was found floating in the Mill River in Stamford Sunday afternoon, reports the Stamford Advocate.

The woman was found at about 12:30 p.m. near the Broad Street bridge, and authorities told the publication that preliminary indications do not point to the incident being suspicious.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the woman, but described her as an Asian woman in her 60s. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, according to the Advocate.
