Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In Stamford This Weekend
There are several events scheduled around Stamford this weekend to celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

STAMFORD, CT — With Martin Luther King Jr. day coming up on Monday, Jan. 16, there are several events scheduled in Stamford this weekend to celebrate the civil rights leader's life and legacy.
Saturday, Jan. 14
The first episode in a four-part series titled "Making Black America: Through the Grapevine" will play at the Ferguson Library South End branch, 34 Woodland Ave., from 12:30 p.m., to 2 p.m.
Ensuing episodes will show during that time on Jan. 21, Jan. 28 and Feb. 4.

This is a free event - no registration is required.
Also on Saturday, the MLK Community Day & Jr. Knicks Basketball Clinic will run from 11 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., at Rippowam Middle School, 381 High Ridge Road.

Hosted by Hoops 4 All, attendees will enjoy music, pop-up shops, poets, dancers and speakers.

Sunday, Jan. 15
A city-wide celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m. UConn-Stamford at 1 University Place will host music, dancers and guest speakers. This event is free, click here to register.
Monday, Jan. 16
A rally will begin at 10 a.m., from Bethel AME Church, 150 Fairfield Ave., followed by a march from the church at 11 a.m.
Lunch will be provided immediately following the march at the Boys & Girls Club/Yerwood Center, 90 Fairfield Ave. The rally, march and lunch are free - no registration is required.
