STAMFORD, CT — Chicken nugget lovers, rejoice.

To celebrate National Chicken Nugget Day and their recent partnership with Uber Eats, Garden Catering is giving away free nuggets to anyone who orders any menu item from one of their eight locations on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Every customer who orders on that day will receive a coupon valid for a free half-pound of hand-cut chicken nuggets for their next order the following week via the Uber Eats app.

"We make the best chicken nuggets that you'll ever have. We wanted to celebrate that on National Chicken Nugget Day, and we thought what better way to celebrate than by giving a whole bunch of nuggets away," said Garden Catering co-owner Frank Carpenteri Jr.

Carpenteri and his sister, Tina, recently took over the business from their father Frank Carpenteri Sr. who retired.

The business began in the mid-1970's when original owner, Lou Iandoli and his business partner, opened Garden Poultry in Greenwich. Later in 1978, Garden Catering, as it's known today, opened on Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich.

Iandoli died in 1989, and Garden Catering closed down. But Carpenteri Sr. bought the business and the secret recipes, and re-opened in 1991.

A Connecticut staple, menu items, along with the nuggets, include potato cones, French fries, the famous Hotsy breakfast sandwich and other breakfast choices, chili, mac bites, corn fritters, and a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads and milkshakes.

While Garden Catering has expanded from Westchester County up to New Haven, the famous chicken nugget recipe has remained the same.

"We've had our recipe since 1978. We feel like we've perfected the nugget over that time. Our nuggets are golden brown on the outside, and juicy on the inside," Carpenteri Jr. said. "We're always consistently looking to improve something we think is already pretty darn good."

Recently, Garden Catering switched to Freebird Chicken, a company that treats their chickens with the highest standards. The chickens have no antibiotics, they're raised in a stress-free environment, and are vegetarian grain-fed.

"We think it's the best chicken on the market," Carpenteri Jr. said, adding that his go-to order is simple: The Special — a half-pound of nuggets, fries and a drink for $9.99.

Carpenteri Jr. said Garden Catering's success over the years could not have been possible without the support from the communities they serve.

"We're lucky enough to be in awesome towns and cities that really support us, and that we look to support back. We have a great relationship with the local community," he said, noting that it can be a challenge to maintain that connection as the business grows.

"But I think we've done a pretty good job of that and I think that's a major contributor to the success we've seen," he said.
