Charter Communications To Create 1,100 New Stamford Jobs

The company has committed to a new Stamford headquarters expansion. It is the second largest cable company in the country.

STAMFORD, CT — Charter Communications announced that it plans to build a 500,000-square-foot headquarters in Stamford. The cable company is the second biggest in the country and is a Fortune 100 company.

The company created and retained 400 jobs under the state's First Five program in 2012 and is committing to bring another 1,100 corporate jobs to the city. It will also invest $100 million in planned capital expenditures. It will receive a 10-year, $10 million, low-interest loan again through the First Five program. The loan can be forgiven based on job creation goals.

“Since relocating Charter’s headquarter operations to Stamford in 2012, the company has undergone a transformation to become the second largest cable provider in the U.S.,” said Tom Rutledge, Charter chairman and CEO. “This new, state-of-the-art facility in downtown Stamford will provide Charter the necessary resources to facilitate its continued growth."
