Chelsea Piers Lifeguard Enters Plea In Near-Drowning Case

The boy was under the water for more than four minutes before the lifeguard realized what had happened, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A former Chelsea Piers lifeguard has entered a not guilty plea related to the near-drowning of a 5-year-old boy in August.

Zachary Stein of New Canaan was charged with risk of injury to a minor and first-degree reckless endangerment, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The child was under the water for more than four minutes before Stein noticed and pulled him out of a pool, according to police.
