Child Abuse Prevention Month Event Scheduled In Stamford
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, both here and across the nation.

From the Exchange Club Parenting Skills Center: April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, both here and across the nation. The Exchange Club Parenting Skills Center (PSC) — the Stamford-based, non-profit agency working each and every day to stop the cycle of child abuse and neglect in our communities — invites everyone to learn how they can support efforts to protect our children and strengthen local families.
Tuesday, April 3 at 12 Noon, The Exchange Parenting Skills Center’s Executive Director Donna L. Miller joins Stamford Mayor David Martin and Mary Louise O’Rourke, of the St. Joseph Parenting Center, for a Child Abuse Prevention Month Kick-Off at Stamford’s Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd. Highlights will be The Mayor’s Proclamation, news of programs preventing local abuse and neglect, and the installation of a Pinwheel Garden to remind residents of the importance of safeguarding our children.
Miller will share her expertise for building stronger, more loving families through home-based interventions and talk about the expansion of the PSC’s 24/7 Dads fatherhood program. "We recently added staff members so we can reach more Dads with our new, research-based approach that inspires and educates fathers to become more involved, responsible and committed parents," Miller says. "Teaching fathers to engage in this way can bring dramatic, positive transformation to a family."
