Childcare Learning Centers Opens Eighth Stamford Location
Lockwood Wing Features Four New Preschool Classrooms

Childcare Learning Centers (CLC) marked the opening of its eighth Stamford location, the Lockwood Wing, at 83 Lockwood Avenue with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The creation of the new site was made possible through a collaboration with the City of Stamford and the State of Connecticut, the latter of which provided a $1.4 million grant.
CLC’s Lockwood Wing, previously home to the K-Wing at Rogers International School, was entirely renovated to feature four new preschool classrooms, one of which will serve as a gross motor room and provide the organization “swing” capacity for the communities it serves. Lockwood will share an existing outside playground with CLC’s neighboring Maple Avenue location, and will feature an additional fenced-in outside play space. There are currently 60 children enrolled for the 2015-16 school year and a total of 13 new positions were created, including nine teachers, two receptionists, an education coordinator and a family social service worker.
“This is a very exciting development for us as it reinforces CLC’s commitment to serving our communities and providing a high-quality preschool and childcare experience for those who might otherwise not have access,” said Marc Jaffe, CEO of CLC. “The expansion of CLC with the new Lockwood Wing will help further strengthen our presence on the East Side. We’re in a great position to effectively serve the entire community here.”
