“Lucky” foods such as Shrimp Dumplings, Steak with Bok-Choi, Shanghainese Pork Buns, filets of fish with fresh ginger and scallions, New Year rice cakes are just a few examples Chef Eric Xie of Wilton’s will be creating for the annual Chinese New Year celebration at the Greenwich High School for the Chinese Calendar year 4716, year of the EarthDog. Entertainment this year will feature Li-Garden Dancers, Eric Lee and the Stamford Chinese Dance Troop.

Unlike many Chinese restaurants in the United States, Chef Xie features menu items that are not associated with Americanized Chinese dining. Dishes “I believe a lot of people have never tasted these variety of foods before in their lives,” Xie said.

Originally from Taiwan, Kai-Li Chen founded Li-Garden Dance in Connecticut. World renowned she was the principal dancer with the Hang Tang Yuefu dancegroup, she has appeared at renowned performing arts centers such as the Lincoln Center Theater, the Joyce Theatre, Théâtre de la Ville, Paris, and the Palace Museum; Ms. Lee has performed in more than 30 countries across the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Eric Jiaju Lee is a producer, songwriter, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist specializing in stringed instruments. A classicially trained violinist since the age of four, Lee has over 30 years of experience as a solo artitst, band member, and session player.

Lee co-founded the seminal Asian American rock band SuperChink, shared the stage with Beijing rock icon Cui Jian and was a bass player for Chinese pop star Luo Dayo. Lee has performed in venues ranging from Lincoln Center to CBGB, with production and performance credits in a large range of musical projects including pop, rock, alternative, world music, experimental music, and film and theatrical soundtracks.

The annual event is a great way to celebrate Chinese New Year for the entire family and experience a slice of authentic Chinese culture with activities to appeal to all ages. There will be a full Chinese Buffet, Arts, Crafts activities for all ages, Demonstrations and Workshops, professional performances, scavenger hunt, raffle and local vendors.
