My " Around the House " Tip of the Day for Wednesday January 17, 2024:
Brrr it's cold here. With temps below 20 and wind chill rated at 7 degrees it's no wonder my 2005 pickup truck won't start. It's been several days in a row that that awful clicking noise, that indicates there is not enough battery power to turn over that cold engine, has become a familiar sound. As we have a battery charger that plugs into the house, we have been able to get it started, but because we have all these hybrid cars now jumping the truck with a hybrid is complicated. Cold weather really puts older batteries to a test and since I can't remember when I last replaced this one, I think today we will go battery shopping! This is one advantage to having a vehicle parked in a garage as it will be less effected by the weather. But alas I seem to always have a vehicle outside. My tip you ask? Have Jumper cables in the vehicle if you are having problems with the battery, and when you park somewhere make sure the front of the car is accessible if you need to get a jump. And how about a blanket, an energy bar in case you are waiting for triple A for a tow.
