Dryer Catches Fire In Stamford Home, 2 Families Displaced: FD
Stamford fire officials said the blaze caused "significant" fire, water and smoke damage to one of two residential units in the building.
STAMFORD, CT — Two families were displaced and a residential unit was "significantly" damaged Sunday evening after a fire broke out at two-family home in Stamford.
In a statement, Captain Philip Hayes said the department received a report of a dryer on fire inside a house on Houston Terrace around 9 p.m. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
When firefighters arrived, they found flames pushing out the front door of the house, so crews quickly set to work ventilating the building and extinguishing the flames, Hayes said.

The fire was brought under control about 30 minutes later, however overhaul continued for another 30 minutes or so to assure the blaze was completely extinguished, Hayes said.
No injuries were reported, however the fire caused "significant" fire, water and smoke damage to one of the two residential units and two families were displaced as a result, Hayes said.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire, Hayes said. Eversource assisted by disconnecting the power to the house.
