Dudley Williams Is To Receive State Award for His Work to Improve Stamford's Public Education

Williams is to be recognized by the Connecticut Voices for Children in a ceremony Nov. 12.

Stamford resident and former Board of Education member Dudley N. Williams is one of four Connecticut individuals and organizations who will be recognized for their public leadership and advocacy on behalf of Connecticut’s children, youth and families by the Connecticut Voices for Children.

Williams, who is Citizenship and Diversity Leader at GE Asset Management and served three terms on the Stamford Board of Education, is to receive the Transformational Philanthropy Award for his leadership in supporting initiatives that improve the equity and quality of K–12 public education in Stamford, when Connecticut Voices for Children hosts its annual First for Kids Awards ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Pond House Café in Elizabeth Park in West Hartford.

In a statement, Connecticut Voices for Children said it is honoring “individuals in the state whose extraordinary work and accomplishments on behalf of the state’s young people serve as a model.”

Other honorees are: State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, The Connecticut Association of School-Based Health Centers and Lexie Grüber of Hamden.

Each recipient will be celebrated for making a difference in the quality of life of children in Connecticut and enriching our state. Previous honorees have included former Governor M. Jodi Rell, former Lieutenant Governor Kevin Sullivan, the Connecticut Health Foundation, and Yale Professor Edward Zigler.
