Elderly Woman Struck By Car, Seriously Injured In Stamford: Police

STAMFORD, CT — An elderly woman was struck by a car and seriously injured in Stamford Friday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred in the area of Stillwater Avenue and Progress Drive at approximately 5:30 a.m.

Police say the woman was walking across Progress Drive when she was struck by a 2022 Ford Escape, which was driven by a 28-year-old Stamford resident. The driver stayed at the scene and spoke to responding officers.

The woman was taken to Stamford Hospital by EMS personnel, where it was determined she suffered life-threatening injuries, police said, noting she is currently in critical condition.

The woman was not carrying identification, and at this time, her identity remains unknown, according to police.

Investigators are asking the public for help to identify the woman, who is described as elderly, possibly Hispanic, approximately 5 feet tall with a thin build, and curly dark/gray hair. She was walking in the area and possibly collecting bottles and cans, police said.
