Ex-Stamford Historical Society Treasurer Seeks Probation for Theft Charge
The man is accused of embezzling more than $20,000 from the organization.

The former treasurer of the Stamford Historical Society who was arrested in connection with the embezzlement of $20,100 from the nonprofit, wants to participate in the state’s accelerated rehabilitation program that would erase the charge from his record if he successfully completes the program.
On Thursday, Donald Huppert, 72, of Stamford, appeared with attorney Mariella Krowka at state Superior Court in Stamford and submitted his accelerated rehabilitation application to Judge Richard Comerford, according to The Advocate.
Huppert was arrested March 9 on a first-degree larceny charge. Stamford Police obtained an arrest warrant for Huppert after society officials discovered the money was missing when they gathered documents for their annual income tax return.

If a person successfully completes the accelerated rehabilitation program and probationary period, their record is cleared.
Huppert is scheduled to return to court for a May 28 hearing on the probation program, according to The Advocate story that can be found here.
