STAMFORD, CT — A modern "fast-casual" Wendy's restaurant may be coming to Stamford following a recent approval by the city's planning board. On Tuesday, the board unanimously recommended approval of a site plan application for the new fast food restaurant at 1938 West Main Street.

The plan was presented to the board by attorney Jacqueline Kaufman of Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey, LLP, representing both Laddins Terrace Associates, LLC and Wendy's, according to the meeting agenda.

"We spent a considerable amount of time over the last few months with staff and with traffic engineering to get this just right," Kaufman said during the meeting.

According to Kaufman, the space would include a drive-through window, as well as indoor dining space and parking. Other planned features include a fireplace, communal tables and couches.

"It's a modern, angular building," Kaufman said. "There are several windows, and it's quite filled with light...it's consistent with the new fast-casual approach."

Kaufman pointed to the design of the Wendy's restaurant on West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich as an example of the type of experience customers can expect. Wendy's does not currently have a location in Stamford, though there are locations nearby in both Norwalk and Greenwich.

According to the Stamford Advocate, the application was filed jointly by Wendy's and Laddins, the latter of which owns the property. The property also includes a CVS Pharmacy.

The application will next go before the city's zoning board for approval.
