Police Release ID Of Stamford Victim In Fatal Motorcycle Crash

The crash occurred Sunday evening on Tresser Boulevard.

STAMFORD, CT — A 26-year-old Stamford resident was killed Sunday night when the motorcycle he was operating collided with a Jeep Wrangler on Tresser Boulevard near Canal Street, according to Stamford police.

"The motorcycle operator, is now being identified as Rene A. Sandoval-Romero, age 26, of Culloden Road in Stamford," wrote police in a statement released Monday afternoon. "Mr. Sandoval sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was transported to Stamford Hospital where he died of injuries he sustained in the crash.
Mr. Sandoval was not wearing a helmet."

"A 2012 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Tresser Blvd intending to turn left onto Canal Street southbound," wrote Sgt. Andrew Gallagher and Sgt. Jeffrey Booth in a statement. "A 2004 Yamaha YZ600 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Tresser intending to cross the intersection. The motorcycle crashed into the turning Jeep. The driver of the Jeep, an 18 year old male Norwalk resident stayed at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation."
