My " Around the House" Tip of the Day for Thursday February 1, 2024:
February... for many the "Cabin Fever" month... can't do exterior stuff to any great extent in the colder climates, so what to do? Closets, attics and basements are crying to be decluttered and organized. Time to chuck things into the recycle cans, and re-evaluate your nest and hoarding habits. Throwing out nonessentials often will make more room for new stuff, so be painfully brutal when analyzing the good, the bad, and the forever stored nonessentials. Tag sales are most successful in spring, but donating items to second hand shops, Goodwill, and such... may give you tax write-offs and selling on the web often takes little more than a cell phone photo and a short description. Perfect indoor work. If you are considering selling your home in the near future emptying closets, organizing the garage and purging now are all great ideas. Get rid of those Beanie babies, old shoes and clothing your saving for the diet you never complete. March will certainly come sooner!
