Firefighters Fight Blaze At Vacant 2-Story Building: Stamford FD

A fire broke out at a vacant two-story commercial building on Manhattan Street in Stamford on Saturday, fire officials said.

STAMFORD, CT — Firefighters fought a two-alarm fire at a vacant two-story building in Stamford's South End over the weekend, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.

On April 30 at 6:11 p.m., dispatch received calls about a structure fire at 37 Manhattan St. A one-alarm response was initiated, and the first arriving firefighters reported heavy fire showing from the rear exterior of a vacant two-story commercial building, the Greenwich Fire Department said in a news release.

Several hose lines were quickly stretched, but the fire had already made its way inside the building through various openings. Due to the dilapidated condition of the building, all fire companies were ordered to stay out of the building and fight the fire from the outside, the GFD said.
