Five Steps to Making a Difference

Human Services Council is Taking Steps Towards Brighter Tomorrows with the 5th Annual SoNo Stroll Have you ever thought to yourself: WHAT CAN I DO? HOW CAN I HELP TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE? Well, the Human Services Council (HSC) has 5 simple steps that you can take to get involved with the 5th Annual SoNo Stroll that will help HSC make a significant impact in a person’s life in your community. 1) Become a sponsor. There are numerous sponsorship levels with benefits including tickets and marketing/pr opportunities. 2) Buy an advertisement in our auction/program catalog which is viewed by over 350 event attendees. 3) Donate an auction item. Anything from beauty products, gift certificates, jewelry, vacation homes, and sporting event tickets. 4) Attend the Stroll on Wednesday, June 5th by purchasing tickets. $150.00 per person includes admission to the cocktail reception and dinner at one of fourteen participating restaurants. 5) If you are unable to attend, please make a tax-deductible contribution to the Human Services Council. Children’s Connection works with pubic and private resources to investigate, substantiate, and treat cases of child sexual and severe physical abuse; Dr. Robert E. Appleby School Based Health Centers provide free, on-site medical and behavioral healthcare services to youth in Norwalk’s three high school and three middle schools (mental health only); Mid-Fairfield Substance Abuse Coalition is one of thirteen regional action councils on substance abuse established to prevent and address substance abuse in the community; Norwalk Mentor Program was the first school-based mentoring program in the country which matches at-risk students in the Norwalk Public Schools with positive adult role models; and 40 South Main Street Supportive Housing consisting of 44 single occupancy units which provide residents with the dignity and responsibility of stable housing. For almost seven decades, the Human Services Council has identified unmet community needs and has filled the gaps by creating and fostering programs that educate, safeguard and empower the people of our communities. Collaborating with other local agencies, the Human Services Council serves over 8,000 children, families and individuals each year.
