Free Spanish Youth Mental Health Training Being Offered In Stamford

The event is open to parents, caregivers, educators, coaches and other community members.

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance (YMHA) is offering a free Youth Mental Health First Aid training session in Spanish this April, helping ensure that more members of the local community have access to important mental health education and resources.

Open to parents, caregivers, educators, coaches and other community members, the full-day training is designed to help participants better support the young people in their lives.

Attendees will learn how to recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges, start supportive conversations and connect youth with the help they may need.

By expanding access to this training in Spanish, YMHA aims to make these tools more accessible to Stamford’s diverse community, strengthening support networks for youth and families across the city.

  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This free session will be held at Family Centers, 986 Bedford St. The session is free to attend, but space is limited and advanced registration is required. To register, email cahumada@familycenters.org.

The training is sponsored by the Stamford Youth Mental Health Alliance, a city-wide network of 35-plus organizations working together to improve access to mental health services for children and adolescents.

The goal of their collective effort is to build a greater understanding of the importance of youth mental wellness, ensure care is accessible and inclusive, and facilitate a comprehensive system of intervention and support for families across the community.
