Harvey School Volunteers Make a Difference in Stamford

The students performed community service projects at Domus and the Childhood Learning Center.

A group of 18 members of The Harvey School community spent Saturday doing volunteer work at two organizations in Stamford.

The group, comprised of 12 students and six adults, prepared two dinners for teens who are part of the residential program at Domus. The volunteers also completed some landscaping and gardening work around the campus of the nonprofit Childhood Learning Center (CLC) preschool building on Maple Street.

Harvey Dean of Students Pat Normandeau said the volunteers deserve a lot of credit for giving up their Saturday for a day of community service. “The kids were absolutely great. They worked really hard and I think we’ve made a solid start at building an ongoing collaborative effort with both Domus and the CLC.”

Harvey plans to return to work in the area with small groups again in January and in May. The entire upper school and staff, totaling more than 300 volunteers, are planning to spend the day in Stamford in October 2015 for the school’s fourth annual Harvey Builds: A Day of Service.

Harvey is a co-educational independent college-preparatory school for students in grades six through 12 in Katonah, NY.
