Here's How To Get Rid Of Your Old Christmas Tree In Stamford

STAMFORD, CT — With the holidays in the rearview mirror, it's time to get rid of that old Christmas tree.

Stamford will begin its Christmas tree pick-up program on Monday, Jan. 13. Residents should make sure trees are placed on their curbs by Jan. 12, as the city will only make one round of pick-ups.

Stamford’s Highways Department may continue curbside pickup throughout the end of the month, weather permitting, according to the city. Pick-up at city condominiums will begin the week of Jan. 13 and is expected to take approximately two weeks.

Residents may also immediately take their trees to either the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center at 130 Magee Ave., or the Scale House at 100 Harborview Ave.

The Scale House is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m, Monday through Saturday, and the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The following guidelines must be followed:

  • Trees placed curbside cannot have any decorations on them
  • Trees cannot be placed in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic
  • No brush, grass clippings or bulky waste will be picked up
  • Plastic Christmas trees will not be picked up
